AS R30012

UNS-R30012

Product Specification: LION® R30012 (Stellite 12 Type)

LION® R30012 is an intermediate cobalt-chromium-tungsten alloy that bridges the gap between the general-purpose Stellite 6 and the high-abrasion Stellite 1. It is engineered for applications where higher resistance to sliding wear and abrasion is required without sacrificing too much impact strength.

1. Detailed Chemical Composition (Weight %)

CoCrWCNiFeSiMn
Keseimbangan27.0-32.07.5-9.51.4-2.0≤3.0≤3.0≤2.0≤1.0

2. Hot Hardness (Hardness vs. Temperature)

R30012 maintains its abrasive resistance even at “red heat” conditions:

  • Room Temp: 45 – 51 HRC
  • 200°C (390°F): 42 HRC
  • 400°C (750°F): 38 HRC
  • 600°C (1110°F): 32 HRC
  • 700°C (1290°F): 28 HRC

3. Mechanical & Physical Constants

  • Density: 8.53 g/cm³ (0.308 lb/in³)
  • Melting Range: 1200°C – 1365°C (2190°F – 2490°F)
  • Compressive Strength: 1770 MPa (256,000 psi)
  • Ultimate Tensile Strength: 740 MPa (107,000 psi)
  • Thermal Conductivity: 15.0 W/m·K (at Room Temp)
  • Elastic Modulus (Young’s): 231 GPa (33.5 x 10⁶ psi)
  • Coefficient of Thermal Expansion: 12.3 μm/m·K (20-500°C)

4. Primary Applications

Ideal for components subjected to both severe abrasion and thermal stress:

  • Timber Industry: Saw tips and cutters for high-speed wood processing.
  • Textile & Plastics: Knives and blades for cutting synthetic fibers and polymers.
  • Fluid Handling: High-wear pump vanes, bearing bushes, and homogenizer valves.
  • Glass Industry: Narrow neck glass mold plungers and guide plates.
  • Engine Parts: Hardfacing for heavy-duty exhaust valves and rotor blade tips.

5. Processing & Machining Guidance

  • Hardfacing: Highly suitable for PTA (Plasma Transferred Arc) and Laser Cladding. A preheat of 400°C – 500°C is required to minimize the risk of stress cracking.
  • Machining: Difficult to machine. Use carbide-tipped tools with low speeds and heavy feeds. Finish-grinding with silicon carbide or diamond wheels is recommended.
